Karachi mob assaults man in case of mistaken child kidnapping

KARACHI: A case of mistaken identity sparked a violent mob attack in Karachi’s Nazimabad area, where a group of individuals assaulted a man under the belief that he had kidnapped a child. However, it was later discovered that the victim, identified as Kamran, was the child’s maternal uncle.

Kamran had taken his nephew along for errands when bystanders wrongly assumed him to be the kidnapper. The situation quickly escalated as the mob subjected Kamran to severe beating and attempted to set him on fire. Fortunately, timely police intervention prevented further harm, and Kamran was rescued from the violent crowd.

The incident, which unfolded two days ago, was eventually resolved with the assistance of police and confirmation from the child’s mother. Upon arrival at the scene, the child’s mother verified Kamran’s identity as her brother and clarified that they had simply gone out for snacks together.

Following the rescue, Kamran was taken to a police station for further investigation. Authorities are now probing into those responsible for the brutal attack on the innocent man.

This incident adds to the growing concerns over Karachi’s rising crime rate, which has left residents apprehensive about muggings and violence. The inability of authorities to effectively maintain law and order in the city has fueled frustration and a sense of helplessness among the populace, contributing to such unfortunate incidents.

Just recently, a mob in Baldia Town brutally lynched a suspected robber, highlighting the alarming trend of vigilantism amidst the city’s security challenges.
