KARACHI: A Jirga in Karachi’s Manghopir area has ordered the killing of a young couple who married of their own will, ARY News reports.
Police sources revealed that the victims, identified as Saira, 20, and Adil, 22, were found dead inside their home in Manghopir on Monday. According to the police, the murder was sanctioned by both the husband and wife’s families.
Initially, the families of the deceased refused to register a case, the police reported. It has been revealed that Saira’s mother and maternal aunt were instrumental in orchestrating the murder.
Police sources disclosed that Saira’s mother invited the perpetrators to their home, where they entered and carried out the killing using both firearms and knives. Evidence from the crime scene included four spent 30-bore bullet casings, two coins, and other items.

Dawn reported that the victims, originally from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, had been living in hiding in Manghopir after their marriage, due to opposition from Saira’s parents. They were previously residents of Husain D’Silva Town in North Nazimabad.
Area SHO Bashir Ahmed stated that it appears the couple’s relatives tracked them down. The bodies have been transferred to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medical and legal procedures.
