Karachi board postpones ninth and matric exams

The Board of Secondary Education Karachi (BSEK) has postponed the ninth and matric exams scheduled from May 21-27 due to an expected heatwave in Sindh.

The decision to postpone the exams was made in light of a heatwave alert issued by both the National Disaster Management Authority and the Provincial Disaster Management Authority, according to a notification released by the board.

The notification issued by the board mentioned that the postponed exams will resume from May 28, 2024, as per the original schedule. The revised schedule for the postponed papers will be released at a later date.

The decision to postpone the exams was made in accordance with the directives of Sindh Minister for Universities and Boards, Muhammad Ali Malkani.

The notification regarding the postponement of matric exams came a day after the Board of Intermediate Education Karachi (BIEK) announced the deferral of exams scheduled to start on May 22. This decision was made in response to the heatwave in Sindh.
