NEW DEHI: Newly elected BJP MP and renowned actor Kangana Ranaut was allegedly slapped by a Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) constable at Chandigarh airport, over comments perceived as disrespectful to farmers. The incident occurred as Ranaut, who recently won the Lok Sabha seat from Himachal Pradesh’s Mandi, was about to board a flight to Delhi, according to Indian media reports.
The constable involved, identified as Kulwinder Kaur, has been suspended, and an FIR (First Information Report) has been filed against her. Sources indicate that Kaur allegedly slapped Ranaut and accused her of disrespecting farmers, referencing Ranaut’s controversial remarks during the 2020-21 farmers’ protests.
Footage from mobile phones shows Ranaut being escorted by security personnel towards the security check-in, where she is seen conversing with CISF officers. The CISF Commandant has taken notice of the incident and is currently questioning Kaur, as reported by Indian media.
Upon her arrival in Delhi, Ranaut did not address reporters.

Earlier in the day, Kangana Ranaut had posted a photo on Instagram captioned, “On my way to parliament. Mandi ki sansad.”
In a video statement posted on X (formerly Twitter) later in the evening, Ranaut confirmed her safety but voiced concerns about increasing terrorism in Punjab.
“I am safe. I am perfectly fine. The incident happened at the security check-in. The woman guard waited for me to cross and then hit me, hurling expletives. She said ‘I support farmers’. I am safe, but my concern is terrorism rising in Punjab. How do we handle that?” Ranaut stated.
Constable Kaur explained her actions, citing her anger over Ranaut’s previous comments during the farmers’ protest. “She had given a statement that the farmers are sitting there for 100 rupees. Will she go and sit there? My mother was sitting there and protesting when she made this statement,” Kaur said.
In December 2020, Ranaut had posted a controversial comment suggesting that an elderly woman at the protest could be hired for 100 rupees. This remark sparked significant backlash, leading Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee’s chief, Manjinder Singh Sirsa, to demand an “unconditional apology” from Ranaut, who subsequently deleted the post.
