Juhi Chawla tops India’s wealthiest actresses list; dethrones Aishwariya Rai Bachchan

Juhi Chawla has been named India’s wealthiest actress, according to the Hurun India Rich List 2024, with an estimated net worth of INR 4,600 crore ($554 million). The Bollywood icon, best known for her work in the 1990s, has outstripped contemporary actresses such as Aishwarya Rai, Deepika Padukone, and Priyanka Chopra.

The Hurun report, which ranks the wealth of India’s most affluent individuals, notes that Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan remains the wealthiest actor, with assets totaling INR 7,300 crore ($880 million).

Despite a reduced film presence, Juhi Chawla has sustained a prosperous career through various business ventures, securing her position in an elite group of Indian actresses. No other actress has yet reached the INR 1,000 crore threshold.

The 2024 Hurun India Rich List also highlights a rise in the number of ultra-wealthy individuals in India, with 1,539 people now holding assets exceeding INR 1,000 crore.

Additionally, a recent Forbes report has shed light on Bollywood’s financial elite. Forbes’ list of the highest-paid Indian film stars, based on IMDb data, shows Shah Rukh Khan leading with earnings between INR 150 crore and INR 250 crore per film. South Indian superstar Rajinikanth follows in second place, earning between INR 115 crore and INR 170 crore per movie.
