WEB DESK: Following the assassination of Hamas Political Wing Chief Ismail Haniyeh, Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) has postponed today’s protest outside the Sindh governor’s house, according to ARY News.

The protest was planned as a sit-in against rising electricity bills but has been rescheduled due to the recent killing of Haniyeh in Iran. Instead, JI will hold funeral prayers in absentia for Haniyeh at M.A Jinnah Road at 5 PM today.

Hamas reported on Wednesday that its political leader was killed in an Israeli strike while he was in Iran attending the inauguration of the country’s new president.

Hafiz Naeemur Rehman has cautioned that Jamaat-e-Islami, after consulting with traders, industrialists, and civil society, may consider the possibility of withholding payment for August’s electricity bills. This is due to concerns that these bills could be even higher than those for July.
