The Overseas Employment Corporation (OEC), operating under Pakistan’s Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development, is preparing to send 30 Assistant English Language Teachers to public schools in Japan.
Here’s what you need to know:
- Who They Want: Are you a Pakistani citizen with a Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) and at least one year of teaching experience? Are you between 24 and 45 years old and have a passion for sharing your English language skills? If so, this could be your call.
- The Perks: The successful candidates can expect a salary of up to 220,000 yen (approximately $2,000 USD) per month, along with free transportation to Japan. The contract runs from April 7, 2025, to March 24, 2026.
- Getting Ready: To be considered, you’ll need a clean criminal record, a recent medical certificate demonstrating your fitness to work, and proof of financial stability. Depending on your chosen accommodation option (private residence or shared housing), you’ll need to show financial reserves ranging from 300,000 yen to 600,000 yen (approximately $2,700 USD to $5,400 USD) after covering your flight expenses.
- Standing Out from Crowd: While fluency in Japanese isn’t a requirement, basic Japanese language skills will be considered a plus. Additionally, possessing relevant teaching certifications like TESOL, TOEFL, CELTA, or a local teaching certificate will strengthen your application.
- Putting Your Best Foot Forward: Showcase your enthusiasm and personality by including a short (3-minute) self-introduction video with your CV. You’ll also need to attend training sessions conducted by M/s Borderlink in Pakistan and be available to travel to your assigned location in Japan by March 31, 2025.
