Is government imposing tax on solar energy equipment?

The federal government has clarified reports regarding the imposition of tax on the equipment of solar energy systems.

According to Sindh Energy Minister Nasir Shah, citing relevant federal authorities, there is no proposal under consideration to impose any such tax.

In response to questions from lawmakers, the minister stated that imposing taxes on solar power equipment would unfairly burden power consumers who are already struggling with inflated electricity bills.

The energy minister reassured legislators that he would discuss with the CEOs of K-Electric, Hyderabad Electric Supply Company (Hesco), and Sukkur Electric Power Company (Sepco) regarding unannounced load-shedding and over-billing in various areas of the province.
