Iran Foreign Minister (FM) Abbas Araqchi declared early Wednesday that the country exercised “self-defense” in its missile strike against Israel, asserting that the action is complete unless the “Israeli regime decides to invite further retaliation.”
The statement, posted on the social media platform X, followed Tehran’s launch of missiles on Tuesday, which was described as retaliation for the deaths of several leaders of Iran-aligned armed groups.
Restraint preceding military action
Araqchi said that Iran’s missile strike was a response after the nation had shown considerable restraint in the hopes of facilitating a ceasefire in Gaza. He stated, “Our action is concluded unless the Israeli regime decides to invite further retaliation. In that scenario, our response will be stronger and more powerful.”
