For those unfamiliar, former Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi declared a state of emergency across the country in 1975, citing internal and external threats. This period lasted nearly 21 months until March 21, 1977, during which many of Gandhi’s political opponents were detained and media outlets faced censorship.

Kangana Ranaut, who has moved beyond her role as a fictional politician, secured the Lok Sabha seat from the Mandi constituency on a Bharatiya Janata Party ticket. Following her swearing-in on Monday, she challenged the Opposition INDIA bloc, stating, “Let’s see what they bring to the table. We finally have a strong Opposition. As Prime Minister Modi remarked, the entire nation expects the Opposition to act more responsibly.”
