An Indian college student has achieved a Guinness World Record by converting a refillable ballpoint pen into the world’s smallest vacuum cleaner.

Tapala Nadamuni, 23, spent approximately $238 on the project, resulting in a vacuum that measures just 0.25 inches at its shortest axis. The compact device generates suction through a miniature rotating fan powered by a four-volt vibration motor, efficiently picking up dust particles which can be emptied from the unit.

Nadamuni’s innovative creation surpasses his previous record set in 2020, when he built a vacuum measuring 0.69 inches. His new vacuum, however, now holds the title, surpassing a competitor’s device that was only 0.07 inches larger.Nadamuni’s achievement has captivated his college peers and faculty.

He noted, “All the students in our college were amazed at this tiny vacuum cleaner, and my faculty told me that it’s the most beautiful creation they’ve ever seen,” in a statement to Guinness World Records.
