Indian Foreign Minister Jaishankar to Visit Pakistan for SCO Summit Amidst High-Level Security Preparations.
Indian Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar is set to visit Pakistan later this month to participate in the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit, marking the first visit by an Indian foreign minister to Pakistan in nearly a decade. The Indian foreign ministry confirmed this on Friday, highlighting the event’s significance.
Pakistan will host the SCO Council of Heads of Government meeting under its rotating chairmanship on October 15-16. The Foreign Office (FO) earlier confirmed that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi was also invited to the summit. FO spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch stated that several countries had already confirmed their participation.

In preparation for the summit, Pakistan’s Federal Minister of Interior, Mohsin Naqvi, chaired a high-level meeting on Wednesday to approve a comprehensive security plan. The plan includes the deployment of additional personnel from the Pakistan Army, Rangers, Frontier Corps, and Punjab police to ensure the safety of all participants during the summit.
This upcoming diplomatic engagement signifies a pivotal moment for regional cooperation under the SCO framework.
