Pakistani human rights lawyer Imaan Mazari said that she and her husband were harassed on Friday by a person in plain clothes while they were waiting due to a route blocked for the movement of the Pakistan and England teams.
Mazari while talking to Azaad English said, “We inquired about the purpose of the route and when it would be opened, and the officers said it would take about four minutes. After waiting for more than four minutes, I and my husband, Abdul Hadi, got out of the car and started clearing the road barrier.”
She further added, “A man in plain clothes, who could be a civilian threw a barrier at me, which struck my abdomen.”
According to Imaan Mazari, Islamabad police arrived shortly after the incident and allowed them to go.
She also shared her medical reports from PIMS Hospital with Azaad English, saying, “since then, I have been experiencing severe stomach pain.”
In a video viral on social media Imaan and her husband can be seen removing barriers at Zero Point in Islamabad, which had been setup to secure the route for the England cricket team.
According to Jang News police sources have reported a violation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) concerning state guests. According to the police, there has been a breach of law that has led to the registration of a case and incident was a threat to the state guest.
