Inspector General of Islamabad Police, Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, expressed profound sorrow over the death of police officer Hamid Shah, who was killed amid violence instigated by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) activists.

In a press conference, Rizvi stated that today marks a tragic day for the Islamabad Police, having lost a brave officer who fought against criminal elements.

Officer Shah succumbed to injuries after being struck by stones thrown by protesters at Number 26 Chowki. Rizvi highlighted that the officer was also subjected to violence, leading to his untimely death. “The children of the martyr are asking whether the state will provide them justice,” he stated.

The Inspector General announced that a stringent FIR would be registered in response to the officer’s killing.

Moreover, he condemned the violence, asserting that the program to attack Islamabad was led by the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Rizvi noted that ten FIRs have already been filed against the assailants and vowed to bring Hamid Shah’s killers to justice.

He recounted the events of the day, stating that despite the police exercising restraint, the demonstrators resorted to violence, including the use of tear gas against police forces.
