LAHORE: The International Cricket Council (ICC) reached out to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Friday, asking for a formal written explanation for their decision not to visit Pakistan for the Champions Trophy 2025.
According to local media reports, the ICC asked the BCCI for written reasons explaining why the Indian cricket team would be unable to travel to Pakistan for the tournament beginning in February next year.
Earlier las week, the ICC had informed Pakistan a bout India’s refusal to send its team to Pakistan for the ICC Champions Trophy.
The Champions Trophy, which is scheduled to be held from Feb. 19 – March 9 will feature eight teams.
It is pertinent to mention here that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has sought clarification from the ICC on the refusal. The PCB has asked for a copy of the letter from the BCCI.
The media reports say that the BCCI, until now, has only verbally informed the ICC about their refusal to travel to Pakistan.
Based on the reasons provided, the ICC will make a final decision regarding how to move forward with India’s participation.
