By hosting the SCO summit and welcoming heads of state from various countries, Pakistan will be able to show to the world that it is a safe destination for foreigners, a perception that is often questioned. Engaging in cultural diplomacy can strengthen bilateral relationships and encourage tourism, as visitors may be drawn to explore the country’s historical sites and diverse cultures. It will also enhance Pakistan’s diplomatic standing and showcase its active participation in multilateral forums.
Strengthening Regional Ties
Hosting this summit would help Pakistan for greater incorporation with neighbouring countries, such as India. Such cooperation can make common problems, like terrorism, drug smuggling, or economic instability, easier to handle through solidarity at the regional level.
Economic Opportunities
The SCO Summit presents significant opportunities for fostering economic partnerships and attracting investment. Delegates, business leaders, and diplomats will flood the local economies, which will increase tourism, hospitality, and other related services in the country. Pakistan can use this summit as an opportunity to present its economic potential and the key sectors of energy, agriculture, and technology for investments.
Chinese Premier Li Qiang has arrived in Pakistan for the SCO meeting and a four-day bilateral visit. He has inaugurated the CPEC-funded Gwadar International Airport in Balochistan, strategically located near the borders with Afghanistan and Iran. This new infrastructure is expected to enhance connectivity and support economic growth in the region.
