President Asif Ali Zardari has approved the Hilal-e-Imtiaz award for Umar Farooq, the whistleblower who exposed the Toshakhana case.
Farooq, an overseas Pakistani, will receive the Hilal-e-Imtiaz for his role in exposing the Toshakhana case involving former Prime Minister Imran Khan.
He is among 104 individuals set to receive civil awards for their contributions. The awards ceremony is scheduled for March 23, 2025, recognizing achievements in public service, bravery, and distinguished services.

The awards will honor individuals in various fields, including science, engineering, education, medicine, arts, literature, sports, social services, philanthropy, entrepreneurship, taxpayers, exporters, public service, gallantry, and contributions to Pakistan.
The awards include the Hilal-i-Imtiaz for Olympian Arshad Nadeem, who won gold at the Paris Olympics, and the Sitara-i-Imtiaz for mountaineer Murad Sadpara.
Late poet Nasir Kazmi will be honored posthumously with the Nishan-i-Imtiaz for his contributions to literature, while Saudi Prince Abdulaziz Bin Salman Al Saud will receive the Hilal-i-Pakistan for his services to Pakistan.
