Rawalpindi and Murree district administrations have introduced a winter protection plan as the snowfall season approaches, set to run from November 1 through February 28.
With approval from the Rawalpindi Commissioner, the plan brings together field teams from key departments, such as the National Highway Authority (NHA), Forest Department, Civil Defence, and Traffic Police, all of whom will be stationed across Murree to enhance safety measures.

The initiative, spurred by the 2022 Murree tragedy that claimed the lives of 22 tourists, includes Rs59.3 million earmarked to handle the winter season’s demands.
About 100 civil defence volunteers have been called up on an emergency basis to aid visitors, equipped with life jackets, rain gear, and flashlights to provide immediate assistance. The administration’s goal is to ensure a safe experience for tourists in Murree throughout the winter months.
