The Governor of the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), Jameel Ahmed, currently receives a monthly salary of Rs4 million, which is notably 60 per cent higher than the salary of his predecessor, Dr Reza Baqir, who earned Rs2.5 million per month.

Moreover, this information was presented to the National Assembly earlier this week, highlighting that the current governor’s salary exceeds that of the former governor by at least Rs1.5 million.

In addition to his salary, Jameel Ahmed’s compensation package includes several perks. These benefits consist of a rental allowance, maintenance and furnishing allowances, two vehicles with 600 liters of free petrol each, and the option to employ up to four house workers at a salary of Rs18,000 per month each.

Additionally, the central bank also covers his utility bills, entertainment, and mobile phone expenses.

Furthermore, the package provides 75 per cent coverage of his children’s education costs, full medical coverage, airline tickets, club memberships, and security expenses.
