In Swat, a house collapse in Matta resulted in the tragic loss of over 40 cattle. Fortunately, no human casualties were reported. Similarly, in Chakat, Shangla, a landslide damaged a house, resulting in the loss of two goats.

Torrential rain blocked major roads, disrupting daily life. Although the Karakoram Highway reopened for traffic, tourists heading to destinations like Swat, Kalam, and Kumrat were stranded due to landslides.

Tourist Frustration and Government Response

Stranded tourist Ahmad Ali from Abbottabad expressed frustration at the lack of government assistance. He highlighted the danger of further landslides in the area.

Emergency Declaration in Balochistan

In Balochistan, heavy rains raised the death toll to 10. The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) declared an “urban flood emergency” under the Balochistan Natural Calamity (Prevention and Relief Act).

Chief Minister Sarfaraz Bugti chaired an online meeting to assess the situation. He directed resources to address public complaints about inadequate water drainage. PDMA teams conducted overnight rescue and relief operations in various areas.
