The Pakistan Meteorological Department has forecast heavy rainfall across the country from September 26 to October 1, with a heightened risk of thunderstorms and urban flooding in several regions.
Rain is expected to hit major cities, including Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Murree, Galyat, and Lahore. Areas in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa such as Peshawar, Swabi, Nowshera, Mardan, and Dera Ismail Khan are also likely to experience thunderstorms.
Risk of flooding and landslides
The Met Department has warned of an increase in water flow in streams and rivers in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, northeastern Punjab, and Kashmir due to the impending heavy rains. There is a risk of urban flooding in low-lying areas of Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Lahore, and Sialkot.

Additionally, there is concern over potential landslides in hilly regions, including Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Murree, Galyat, Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan. Authorities are advising residents in these areas to take precautionary measures as the weather system approaches.
The department urges the public and relevant authorities to stay vigilant and prepare for possible disruptions caused by flooding and landslides.
