Hazim Bangwar defends fashion choices amid Fawad Chaudhry’s criticism

KARACHI – Former Assistant Commissioner of Karachi, Hazim Bangwar, has responded to criticism from Fawad Chaudhry regarding his attire at the Hum Style Awards 2024. Bangwar addressed the issue on his Instagram story on Tuesday, emphasizing his right to a private life.

Bangwar Defends His Private Life

“Most people have forgotten that I am a human and should be allowed to live my private life in peace,” Bangwar stated. “I’ve left a life of luxury to serve my public, paying the price every day through criticism, trolling, bullying, and threats for simply dressing well.”

He highlighted that he always carries his office with respect and dignity, dressing appropriately in his official capacity. “No doctor or officer wears their gowns or uniforms outside their office, but I guess I am expected to,” he lamented.

Fashion Under Scrutiny

Bangwar recently attended the Hum Style Awards, where his fashion sense came under scrutiny. He shared pictures from the event on Instagram with the caption, “Pakistan might not have Met Gala, but it has a lot of style and talent.”

Fawad Chaudhry’s Criticism

Former federal minister Fawad Chaudhry expressed his displeasure with Bangwar’s attire, urging him to respect his position and the office he holds. “Indian civil service was the first merit-based bureaucracy of the modern world. The authors of the Travelyn report could never have imagined the decline we are witnessing in Pakistan Civil Service. Show some respect for the office you are occupying,” Chaudhry wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

Mixed Reactions from Social Media

Many social media users criticized Bangwar’s fashion choices, but he also received support from some users who defended his right to dress as he pleases.

Bangwar’s Diverse Background

Hazim Bangwar holds an LLB degree from the UK and a degree in Fashion Design and Marketing from American Intercontinental University (AIU) London. He is also a singer, having released his first single album in 2019, which became a hit in South Korea, Hungary, Egypt, and India. His subsequent releases, including “Hell Ya” and his Urdu song debut in 2020 and 2021, have further cemented his artistic credentials.
