On Monday, the Ministry of Energy (Power Division) announced that it has drafted standards for establishing charging stations nationwide.
This initiative is part of the prime minister’s effort to promote the use of electric cars, motorcycles, and rickshaws.
The Power Division also indicated that providing affordable electricity to charging stations is being considered. Minister for Power Division Sardar Awais Ahmad Khan Leghari stated that the charging stations will be established in accordance with international standards.

The draft is expected to receive approval from the Power Division following consultations with all stakeholders. He added that electricity connections for charging stations would be prioritized, with a focus on ensuring a reliable power supply and stable voltage for these stations.
The minister addrd that these measures would substantially lower the cost of operating petrol-powered vehicles and usher in a new era for Pakistan. He also mentioned that standard testing centers would be set up to assess charging batteries.
