The federal government has slashed the petrol prices by Rs2.07 per litre for the next fortnight.

New fuel rates take effect from October 1.

As per the official statement, the price of high speed diesel (HSD) came down to Rs246.29 from Rs249.69 after a reduction of Rs3.40.

Earlier, it was reported that petrol prrices would only slightly increase by Rs0.11 per litre.

Previously, the prices of petrol were decreased by Rs10 per litre owing to a drop in fuel rates in the international market during the past fortnight.

Meanwhile in the international market, crude oil prices fell over 3 per cent on Thursday.

These global oil price shifts are directly linked to the recent reduction in Pakistan’s fuel prices, with potential for further relief at the pump if crude prices continue to decline.
