Government-issued firearms were reportedly used in a recent bank robbery in Islamabad.
According to police sources, a short machine gun (SMG) used in the robbery was issued to an unidentified individual from the Secretariat police station.
According to Jang, a report about the missing SMG has been filed at the Secretariat police station, and an investigation has commenced to determine its whereabouts.
Four incidents involving bank robberies and cash van heists have occurred within just 24 hours in Islamabad. Police suspect that the same government-issued SMG was used in these recent criminal activities.
In the past few days, two bank robberies and the theft of two cash vans occurred in the federal capital. The incidents resulted in the death of one civilian, while three security guards and five other civilians were injured.
Authorities are investigating to trace the origins of the weapons used in these crimes.
