Google Docs now lets you create Custom AI Clip art

Google Workspace has announced that users of Google Docs will be able to use an AI image generator that is powered by Gemini to enrich their documents with images.

This capability serves as a more sophisticated advanced clip art, much like what Microsoft’s Office suite has done with the provision of AI-generated images for user integration.

The image generator also features for paid users of the workspace with add-ons such as Gemini business, education, enterprise, education premium, or Google One AI Premium.

To access the feature, users locate the menu and click on Insert > Image > Help me create an image which displays a sidebar titled “Create an image”. In this section, the user types in what kind of pictures she wants to be created alongside choosing art styles like photography or sketches.

Ratios for the images also including square, horizontal and vertical designs can be selected to make it convenient for designing pictures suitable for fliers, brochures, menus or even paged cover images for documents without a page number.

The tool integrates conveniently with the highly detailed Google Imagen 3 generator where improved detail and lesser lighting and visual artifacts than working with the previous models are promised.

This is in addition to the already existing A.I integrations by Google as in the slide generator for Google slides which had been powered by Duet AI and introduced last year.

Being the first day of the feature availability review for the domains set to Google’s rapid release schedule, the feature will take a maximum of 15 days to reach the last domain.

The remaining domains will be able to start the feature on a staggered basis beginning December 16.
