In a recent podcast with Mansoor Ali Khan, former Federal Minister for Education Shafqat Mahmood openly acknowledged that General (Retired) Qamar Javed Bajwa played a significant role in the political shifts that brought their government to power, overthrew it, and established the PDM government.
During the conversation, Mahmood clarified that the US cipher, which was highlighted during PTI’s rally, was not a unique occurrence but had happened multiple times before without affecting US-Pakistan relations.
He also criticised the advice given to the PTI founder during the no-confidence motion, expressing his anger over the situation and believing that they should have exited at that time.

Despite the political turmoil, Mahmood viewed the politicisation of the cipher as a typical political maneuver. He also revealed that Imran Khan harbored personal anger towards General Bajwa, believing that the political changes could not have occurred without his consent.
Furthermore, reflecting on their tenure, Mahmood regretted that their government did not complete its term, which would have made it the third to do so in Pakistan’s history.
