On World Tourism Day, Shahrukh Ali, Director General of the Capital Development Authority (CDA), highlighted the government’s dedication to promoting sustainable tourism in Pakistan, with a particular focus on Galiyat Valley.

Speaking in an interview with a private news channel, Ali emphasised the surge in tourism, noting that Galiyat Valley has welcomed over 1 million visitors this year.

Highlighting the government’s eco-friendly approach, Ali stated, “We are committed to sustainable tourism practices that not only boost economic growth but also protect our region’s unique environment and cultural heritage.”

He further noted that Galiyat is on its way to becoming a top destination for sustainable tourism, showcasing Pakistan’s natural beauty while prioritizing environmental conservation.

Ali outlined several key initiatives, including the Galiyat Tourism Authority’s plans to enhance infrastructure, such as building modern parking facilities and registering over 50 hotels and guest houses to ensure quality service for tourists.

Moreover, these efforts aim to standardize tourism operations, stimulate the local economy, and provide transparent services.

Additionally, with the global theme for World Tourism Day 2024—“Tourism and Peace”—Ali stressed the role of tourism in promoting international understanding and peace through cultural exchange.

Furthermore, he added that sustainable tourism in Galiyat would not only preserve its natural beauty but also create job opportunities and support local businesses, aligning with the broader goals of responsible tourism.
