The upgradation of the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore has reached almost 50 per cent completion as the venue is set to host the International Cricket Council (ICC) Champions Trophy next year.

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi also made a visit to the venue and inspected the renovation process.

The PCB chair expressed satisfaction with the upgradation process and announced that a cricket museum and a souvenir shop would be setup to engage fans.

Naqvi also held a meeting at the Frontier Works Organisation (FWO) camp office, where the project outlines were reviewed through blueprints.

“The stadium is now set to become world-class,” said Mohsin Naqvi.

Champions Trophy 2025:

The International Cricket Council hasn’t announced the official schedule despite finalising Lahore, Karachi, and Rawalpindi as venues. These three places will host matches from February 19, with the finale taking place on March 9.

However, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) hasn’t given its assurance regarding Team India’s participation in the global tournament as the cricketing body needs permission from the Indian government.

India last played in Pakistan during the 2008 Asia Cup and since then the decision-makers have refused to allow the Men in Blue to play in the neighbouring country. Their matches have been limited to ICC tour and neutral venues.
