PESHAWAR: Former senator and senior leader of the Awami National Party (ANP) Ilyas Ahmad Bilour, has passed away.

He was undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Islamabad at the time of his death. His funeral prayer will be offered tomorrow at 2:00pm at Wazir Bagh in Peshawar.

Ilyas Ahmad Bilour served the upper house of the Pakistan’s bicameral parliament for fourth consecutive terms.

The late Ilyas Bilour was the brother of ANP martyred leader Bashir Ahmad Bilour and Ghulam Ahmad Bilour quit politics recently after losing his last three elections in Peshawar.

Bilour said that martyrdom of his brother Bashir Bilour and nephew Haroon Bilour along with losing three consecutive general elections, were sufficient reasons for him to quit politics.
