The theft involved valuable materials and wires valued at approximately Rs600 million, taken from one of the most secure areas of the Tarbela Power House. So far, five of the eight accused have been arrested, while three remain at large.
Among those arrested are expert swimmers Atifur Rehman, Ahmed Nawaz, and Shakar Alam, who have been placed in judicial custody. Reports indicate that these facilitators used vehicle tires to float the precious copper and other materials across the river.
In addition to these three, the police will present the other three accused—security inspector Nasrullah Khan, driver Sabz Ali, and private firm employee Usmanzada—in court today. Furthermore, 15 additional suspects, including Waqar Ali, son of Abdul Rasheed, and telephone operator Shakeelur Rehman, are still evading arrest.
