Fire kills newborn babies in India

At least seven infants have been killed in a fire incident at a children’s hospital in India’s capital, New Delhi. The fire broke out on Saturday at Baby Care Hospital.

Five of the newborns died due to smoke inhalation, and 12 newborns were rescued.

According to reports, the owner of the hospital fled after the incident.

The bodies of the dead infants were transferred to New Delhi’s Guru Tegh Bahadur (GTB) Hospital for postmortem examination.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal called the incident “heartbreaking.”

The incident occurred just hours after more than two dozen people, including at least nine children, were killed in a large fire at a crowded amusement park in Rajkot, Gujarat.
