The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has warned taxpayers that failure to file income tax returns by September 30, 2024, will lead to severe penalties. These include the blocking of mobile phone SIMs, disconnection of electricity and gas services, and a ban on international travel.
FBR has communicated this through emails sent to non-filers, reminding them of their obligations under Section 114(1)(b)(vii) of the Income Tax Ordinance, 2001. Individuals with taxable income are required to file returns for the tax year 2024 by the given deadline.

The tax authority emphasized that it possesses complete financial transaction records and will take action against those who do not comply. Failure to file could result in fines, legal action, and further investigations, which may lead to audits and hefty penalties.
The FBR urged taxpayers to file their returns by the deadline to avoid these consequences.
