The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has introduced a new prize scheme aimed at incentivising customers to report unverified invoices from integrated tier-1 retailers.

Announced on Thursday through SRO.1513(I)/2024, the scheme amends the Sales Tax Rules 2006.

Under this revised procedure, customers who report unverified invoices will be eligible for prizes corresponding to their purchases.

Moreover, to participate, customers must report the unverified invoices via an application or WhatsApp, providing essential details including their name, CNIC, mobile number, IBAN, proof of digital payment, and a picture of the unverified invoice along with an image of the retailer’s premises.

Additionally, it is important to note that failure to submit proof of digital payment will result in forfeiture of the prize claim.

In addition, once an unverified invoice is reported, an alert will be generated in the IRIS system for the Commissioner of Inland Revenue, who will verify the invoice to determine the customer’s entitlement to the prize.

Furthermore, this initiative aims to enhance tax compliance and improve revenue collection by encouraging customer participation in monitoring retailer practices.
