ISLAMABAD: Former federal minister Fawad Chaudhry has urged US President-elect Donald Trump to investigate the removal of Imran Khan’s government.

Jailed former Prime Minister Imran Khan was ousted from power though a vote of no confidence by then the opposition parties in April 2022.

Imran Khan, currently incarcerated in Adiala Jail for over a year, has consistently blamed US involvement in his ousting from power.

In a statement, Fawad Chaudhry, who served in Imran Khan’s cabinet, claimed that Trump’s advisers believe the Biden administration played a role in the removal of Imran Khan and his party from the power.

Citing what he described as ‘similarities’ between Donald Trump and Imran Khan, Fawad Chaudhry said that both leaders faced what he termed “fake cases.”

He added that while the people’s decision was respected in the 2024 US presidential election, the mandate of the people was “disregarded” in Pakistan’s general elections.

Earlier on Wednesday, PTI MNA Ali Muhammad revealed that party founder Imran Khan expressed excitement over Donald Trump’s victory in the 2024 US presidential election.

Earlier, the PTI leadership had congratulated Donald Trump on his historic return to White House after four years.

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) shared a congratulatory post on its official account on X, tagging President-elect Donald Trump and Vice President-elect JD Vance.
