A first Information Report (FIR)f has been resisted against famous Pakistani TV host Farah Iqrar and 38 other journalists for talking about the Lahore college incident.
Farah, while exclusively talking to Azaad Digital said, ” The state is like a mother; it should answer your questions and protect everyone instead of registering an FIR against someone raising questions.”
“We asked questions about the college students and demanded the CCTV footage, but instead, we faced an FIR in response,” added Farah.
While speaking to Azaad she mentioned that more than 38 journalists are facing FIRs for raising their voices about the Punjab college campus incident. She added, “Journalists have a duty to raise their voices, and one should definitely do it.”
Punjab College Incident
In a tragic incident that took place in Lahore, a female student was allegedly raped on the college premises by a security guard named Aun and is currently fighting for her life in the ICU.
The student is in her first year at Punjab College, Lahore.
Her cries were heard by a male teacher, who eventually found and rescued her.
Reports suggest that the guard had a history of inappropriate behaviour with female staff, raising questions about why action wasn’t taken earlier.
After the news went viral, the police arrested the guard. The police managed to arrest the accused within 10 hours of the incident from another city – the outskirts of Lahore.
