The Story: A retweet by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on the social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter) claimed that Fiverr was suspending the accounts of Pakistani users. The tweet received 1,600 likes and 800 retweets. Following this, several news reports emerged with similar claims.
“Stop killing the income of Freelancers in Pakistan! We can’t afford talented people leaving the country, we are already at the highest number in the world for people leaving the country,” read the quote tweet.
A senior official from the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), speaking on condition of anonymity, informed Azaad that Fiverr is not suspending the accounts of Pakistani users. He added that such warnings are common for users in the South Asian region.
