The Claim: An army major officer was caught smuggling 60 kilograms of drugs in a military vehicle by the KP police.
The Fact: The man in the picture is not an army officer but an imposter that was caught by KP police last in 2023.
The Story: An account named @CivicDominance shared a picture of a man, alleging that he is an army major who was caught by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police while smuggling drugs.
“Major Sahib was caught smuggling 60 kilograms of drugs in a military vehicle by the KP police. I’m now worried about the lives of these brave police officers, as it seems they don’t value their lives and have arrested a member of the Pakistan Army. The DG ISPR used to say that smuggling is the business of terrorists and we are taking measures to stop it,” read the tweet.
However, the picture shared by the ‘X’ account does not depict an actual army major but rather an imposter who was apprehended for drug smuggling while posing as a fake army officer. This individual issued an apology to the nation and the army in April 2023.
The accused, a resident of Abbottabad, was found wearing a counterfeit major’s uniform and had a fraudulent official number plate attached to their vehicle.
