WEB DESK: Two lawyers were fatally shot in the Kachhari district of Attock on Saturday by an assistant sub-inspector (ASI) from the elite forces, reportedly due to a personal grudge.

The victims, former president of the District Bar Attock Advocate Israr Ahmed and Advocate Zulfiqar Mirza, were identified by the police.

According to a statement from the Attock police spokesperson, ASI Intizar Shah was angry about having to divorce his wife in a family court case involving Advocate Ahmed.

“ASI Intizar Shah of the Elite Force Attock opened fire on Advocate Malik Israr due to a previous grudge, killing Advocate Malik Israr and his colleague Advocate Zulfiqar Shah,” the statement said.

Moreover, District Police Officer (DPO) Attock Sardar Ghias Gul Khan has taken strict action following the incident.

The suspect was arrested, and the in-charge of the Attock elite force and the Mohrar were detained for negligence and carelessness. Further investigations are ongoing.

Additionally, the suspect was transferred to the Attock City Police Station, and the bodies were taken to the district headquarters hospital.

Furthermore, Punjab Inspector General of Police Dr. Usman Anwar ordered strict action against the suspect, stating that he would “definitely” be punished following the investigation.

A statement from the Punjab police spokesperson confirmed that a first information report has also been registered.
