Electricity shortfall hits 4,000 MW

WEB DESK: The electricity shortfall in the country has reached 4,000 megawatts.

Moreover, Pakistan’s electricity demand is 24,000 megawatts, while the supply is 20,000 megawatts. Eight power units of Tarbela are shut down due to maintenance.

Furthermore, areas with high line losses are experiencing load shedding for 12 to 14 hours.

Sama News reported that load shedding can be reduced if distribution companies receive their allocated quota.

In addition, to prevent system overload, DISCOs can implement load shedding of two hours in urban areas and four hours in rural areas. The duration of load shedding is longer in areas with high line losses and electricity theft or non-recovery issues.
