Egypt has unveiled a set of new immigration policies aimed at increasing tourism and attracting more international visitors.
Among the most significant changes is the introduction of a 96-hour free transit visa, now available at all Egypt airports. The visa, previously limited to EgyptAir passengers, has been expanded to include travelers flying with other local carriers. The policy will remain in effect until the end of April 2025, offering a temporary boost to Egypt’s tourism sector.
Additionally, during the summer months, travelers arriving at Luxor-Aswan International Airport on flights operated by Egyptian airlines will be eligible for a free emergency entry visa. The offer extends to nationals from countries that permit emergency visa entry, further easing access for tourists.
The list of countries eligible for the emergency entry visa has been broadened to include South Africa, Kazakhstan, Armenia, Georgia, and Azerbaijan. These countries have also been added to Egypt’s electronic visa portal (E-visa), allowing for a wider scope of visa-free access, according to a report by Egypt Independent.
