Dr. Mahrang’s inclusion is tied to her advocacy for human rights and her leadership during a December 2023 march to Islamabad, where hundreds of women demanded justice for their missing family members.

In response to the recognition, Dr. Mahrang expressed her gratitude on Facebook, dedicating the honor to Baloch women human rights defenders and the families of forcibly disappeared individuals.

Dr. Mahrang’s journey into activism began when her father, Ghaffar Longove, disappeared in December 2009. She was just a primary school student at the time. Her father’s body was later found in 2011, and since then, she has been at the forefront of protests demanding justice for Baloch families affected by enforced disappearances.
