Despite fierce competition, the film is steadily approaching the $1 billion mark globally. As of this weekend, it has surpassed the global earnings of “Minions: The Rise of Gru.”

“Despicable Me 4” becomes second highest-grossing film in franchise in US

“Despicable Me 4,” which was released on July 3, has achieved notable success at the box office. The film has now collected 9.4 times its production budget worldwide, making it the second highest-grossing film in the franchise at the US box office.

The fourth installment has earned $5.6 million internationally on its 13th weekend, covering over 82 locations. With a 35.6 per cent drop from the previous weekend, it reached $580.6 million at the international box office. In North America, it has garnered $359.4 million, bringing its total global earnings to $940 million.

The latest film in the franchise, featuring new voice cast members such as Michelle Yeoh, Taraji P. Henson, and Alan Arkin, is on track to become one of the highest-grossing films of the year, despite the crowded cinema landscape.

Made with a budget of $100 million, “Despicable Me 4” has already earned 840 per cent of its production costs. The film remains in theaters, continuing its successful run as it aims for the coveted $1 billion milestone.
