He stated that it is uncertain at this moment whether former Prime Minister Imran Khan, founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), will face trial in a military court. Asif emphasised the speculative nature of such discussions and preferred not to predict outcomes.
When pressed about the potential influence of Faiz Hameed’s recorded statements on Khan’s trial, Asif acknowledged the host’s point but reiterated that any conclusions drawn were merely speculative.
He added that Hameed is currently in custody for investigative purposes and clarified that a formal charge sheet, or challan, can only be submitted to a military court after the investigation concludes.
