After 13 years, Pakistan’s hockey team managed to qualify for the final of the Azlan Shah hockey cup final. However, despite remaining unbeaten during the rest of the tournament, the Green Shirts lost the final against Japan.
The national hockey team’s performance surprised everyone, including former hockey players. Former hockey player, Tauqeer Dar, described the team’s performance as “extraordinary.” He added that despite the lack of facilities, the players performed extremely well.
Meanwhile, the national cricket team’s players have also lauded the hockey team’s performance in the Azlan Shah hockey cup final. Skipper Babar Azam took to his account X account to express his happiness over the team’s great performance.

Furthermore, Shaheen Afridi also expressed his appreciation for the hockey team. “Unbeaten all through and fighting till the last minute in the final deserves all the support and praise,” he wrote.
The fast bowler added that “we all are so proud of our hockey team for their efforts.”

On the other hand, Sports Minister Punjab Faisal Khokhar has announced prize money of Rs.2 million for their performance in the tournament. “On behalf of the nation, I congratulate the team,” Faisal said.
