QUETTA: At least one policeman was injured by a bomb attack, which targeted a police vehicle in the provincial capital of Balochistan, on Friday.

According to police, unidentified terrorists carried out a hand grenade attack on the police van in the Burori area on the Western Bypass in Quetta.

The explosion caused damage to the police vehicle.

Rescue teams immediately rushed to the scene following the blast. The injured cop was taken to hospital for medical treatment.

Security forces and a bomb disposal squad are currently at the scene conducting investigations. The extent of the officer’s injuries is currently unknown. Further details are awaited as the investigation continues.

At least 24 people were killed and over 40 others injured on Saturday after a suicide blast ripped through Quetta Railway Station, the division commissioner said.

Deputy Commissioner Quetta Hamza Shafaqat confirmed that the explosion at the railway station in Quetta was a suicide attack. He said that 24 people were killed in the deadly bombing.

He added that the security forces deployed at the railway station were the target of the suicide bomber.

The commissioner appealed to the public to visit hospitals and donate blood to help the blast victims. He also urged people to avoid going to bus stands, stations, and crowded places.

Last Friday, terrorists attacked a security checkpost in Kalat district of the Balochistan in which seven security personnel were martyred.

Earlier on Novemeber 9, a suicide bomber blew himself up at a Quetta railway station, killing at least 27 people and wounding 62 others.
