Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Maryam Nawaz Sharif has announced a huge increase in the prize money for the Pakistan hockey team players.
During a meeting with the national hockey team players, CM Punjab decided to increase the prize money from Rs. 2 million to Rs. 30 million. CM Maryam handed over the prize money check of 3 crore rupees to the hockey team players.
The first woman CM of Punjab expressed her happiness over the performance of the hockey team during the recently held Sultan Azlan Shah Cup. She said that the hockey team restored national pride.

Maryam Nawaz hoped that the hockey team will once again ascend to its rightful place of prominence. She promised that they will get full support from hers and the Prime Minister.
Earlier, Punjab’s Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs, Faisal Ayub Khokhar, had announced a reward of Rs. 2 million for the Pakistan national hockey team in recognition of their outstanding performance. However, CM Maryam has increased the prize money to Rs. 30 million.
