CJ declines farewell dinner at govt expense

Chief Justice of Pakistan, Justice Qazi Faez Isa, has expressed his regret over attending a farewell dinner at government expense, stating that such an event would incur costs exceeding Rs2 million.

In a formal communication, he conveyed his decision not to participate in the dinner, typically held to honor retiring judges.

The Chief Justice has, however, accepted an invitation to the farewell dinner organised by the Supreme Court Bar Association.

A notice regarding the full court reference has been sent to the Attorney General by the Assistant Registrar. The full court reference is scheduled for October 25 at 10:30am, coinciding with Justice Isa’s retirement.

In the communication, it was noted that while farewell dinners are customary, Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa chose to decline due to the associated expenses.

The Registrar of the Supreme Court has informed the President of the Supreme Court Bar Association that the full court reference will take place in Courtroom No. 1 at the scheduled time, and speakers are requested to submit their remarks in advance.
