Chahat Fateh Ali Khan served with defamation notice for defaming NFAK

WEB DESK: UK-based social media influencer Chahat Fateh Ali Khan has received a legal notice demanding Rs180 million in damages for allegedly defaming legendary musician Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan. The notice, issued by Mian Muhammad Umair Niaz on behalf of Qaiser Munir Khan, was delivered to Chahat’s residence in the UK, as reported by Express News.

The notice stipulates a 15-day deadline for Chahat Fateh Ali Khan to respond, failing which a defamation lawsuit will be filed. Among the accusations, Chahat is accused of falsely portraying himself as a relative of the late musician and damaging Nusrat’s legacy through his singing. It further claims that Chahat’s actions have offended the people of Faisalabad and violated the Copyright Act.

“Chahat’s singing has angered the people of Faisalabad,” the notice states, emphasizing the demand for a public apology on social media. Failure to comply within the stipulated period could lead to legal action and a defamation suit seeking Rs180 million in damages.
