BYD Co. announces plans for EV factory in Karachi to expand Pakistan’s EV market
BYD Co., a leading Chinese electric car manufacturer, is set to establish a factory in Karachi, Pakistan, in collaboration with Mega Conglomerate Pvt., one of the country’s largest business groups.
Moreover, t its brand launch scheduled for Saturday, BYD plans to unveil three new models targeted for the Pakistani market, including an SUV and a sedan.
Additionally, BYD aims to expand its lineup in the future to include both battery-electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles. While a BYD spokesperson confirmed the company’s plans to introduce these vehicles, they declined to comment on specific investment details or factory plans in Pakistan.
In addition, this development marks a significant milestone as BYD partners with Mega Motors, a subsidiary of Hub Power Co., the largest independent electricity producer in Pakistan.

The collaboration extends beyond a traditional dealership model, indicating a deeper integration within the Pakistani automotive sector.
Furthermore, the proposed factory will be situated near Port Qasim in Karachi, a hub for several automobile assembly plants, including Toyota, Suzuki, and Kia. The plant is expected to be completed by the first half of 2026, with further details still under discussion.
To kickstart its presence, BYD plans to establish showrooms in Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad, with sales anticipated to begin in the fourth quarter of this year.
